Praise for New Broom (a longer version of The Nova Broom, above)

“The writing is strong and vivid, and the beginning grabbed my attention.”
Erin Kissane, Editor, Strange Horizons

On submission for my story, Dad, as the final piece for my initial course, Start Writing Fiction
“I would like to congratulate you for starting out on what I hold to be a promising career in fiction writing.”
Marion Kleinschmidt, OU Tutor, author and playwright

I hold a first class BA Hons in Literature and a Diploma in Literature and Creative Writing. Against all advice I adopted the risky strategy of submitting novel chapters, rather than short stories or plays, for my final pieces on both years of the course; in the first year it was the beginning of a historical novel about a post-war amputee,  Forgive and Forget, and in the second year it was the start of a teen sci-fi novel, Sable Street. This was even more risky then I knew that my second-year tutor hated sci-fi and fantasy. Luckily she loved it! Phew…
